Boating Access

UNRESTRICTED has no bridge or locks to go through. It is also referred to as sailboat access. Generally these are quick, deep water canals perfect for avid boaters or those with large boats.

BRIDGE access is located in several different areas of our city. South, east, and southwest have bridges to go under. They range from 7.5' to 11' tall from the water. Most power boats can fit under here, except of course, those with flying bridges, tall radar arches, or sailboats.

TRAM or LIFT access boaters have a code to use to operate the lift from one side to the other. The process takes just a few minutes, however, it limits the size of the boat due to weight and length maximum of 28'. There are 2 trams in the city in the S.E. (unit 89 only) and in N.W off Burnt Store Rd.

LOCK access is a man controlled system where the boater enters an electronic gate on one side then it is opened on the other fore passage. Normal operating hours are 8AM-10PM. Appointments must be made for other times (239-542-5661). Behind the lock most of the canals also have a bridge.
